Due to Covid 19 restrictions we are unable to run an Open Evening this year in the normal way. However, in its place we will be offering an extended period for families to visit the school during the school day. There will also be a video available to give pupils and parents the information they need about the school, alongside a downloadable Prospectus.
If you wish to have a COVID safe tour of Farmor’s School please register your details by emailing email@example.com, putting ‘Year 6 tours’ as the subject. Details to include in the email:
Due to the number of tour requests you will be allocated a time slot for the tour. If this is not convenient please let us know and you will be offered 2 alternative slots.
Tours will run Tuesday – Friday, from 22nd September until Friday 20th October (6 weeks)
Application deadline - September 2020 intake
The deadline for entry to Farmor’s in September 2020 is October 31st 2019. In September 2019 local authorities will send out information via your child’s school explaining how to apply for a secondary school placement.
The transition between primary and secondary education is a crucial period in a child’s education. At Farmor's we have a number of activities to ensure that your child has a smooth transition, including two induction days, a visit to the majority of the primary schools to speak to the class teacher and students, a uniform trying on session and a parent information evening.
The Year 6 Induction Days take place during the summer term. All pupils with a place at Farmor’s in Year 7 spend two full school days with us. This gives them the opportunity to meet the Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral), Head of Year and Form Tutor. Prior to their arrival they will have been assigned to their Tutor Groups for Year 7, so they are able to meet and start getting to know their new classmates.
Throughout the two days the students take part in activities that encourage the development of new friendships, building their confidence and enthusiasm for their arrival in September. At the end of the second day they go home on the school buses that they will use in September, and this helps to allay any fears regarding transport.
Parents wishing to apply for a place in Years 8-11 are invited to make an appointment with Amanda Sampson, Admissions and Marketing Administrator, to discuss the move and be given a tour of the school. Amanda Sampson can be contacted by either email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01285 712302. Full details of the admissions process are provided following a visit.
