Course Content

You will develop skills and techniques in painting, drawing, printing, sculpture and explore the work of artists, designers and crafts people. You will also participate in peer and teacher critiques, learning to talk about work and Fine Art and related ideas. You will also set up your own blog / Instagram to understand how to present work to an audience. 

Exams: 15-hour exam in Y13 which makes up 40% of the final grade.

Y13 students follow their own personal artistic investigation, supported by their teachers. This includes a 3000-word essay alongside sketchbook development work leading to substantial final pieces. This makes up 60% of the final grade.

Exam Board:AQA

The exam board moderator praised the department for promoting high level of experimentation and pushing students in development of their ideas.  He also praised the high level of rigour in this course.

A*-A 57% | A*-C 100%

Entry requirements

Sixth Form entry criteria plus:

Minimum GCSE grade 5 in Graphics, Art or Photography

Career Opportunities

Art Foundation Course

Degree courses in Architecture (this course is a requirement for studying Architecture)

Fashion Design 

Set design and for Theatre and TV

All art and design careers such as animation.

Visiting artists

Links with Stroud College

Annual trip to such places as Barcelona, Paris, London andSt Ives.  A different place is visited each year so you will have the chance of at least two trips.

 

The quality of teaching has been brilliant and staff really do care about the pupils as individuals and their success. Thanks to everyone for providing such an excellent sixth form.
