Course Content

You will study Germany past WW2 to the creation of the German Democratic Republic as well as the Soviet Experiment 1917-91.  Further study includes the British Empire – The American Revolution, The Slave Trade, Australia, Canada, India, the Sudan, Hong Kong and Zanzibar.  You will also undertake a historical enquiry, which is a university style dissertation on any historical controversy you have an interest in.  

Exams: 3 Exams at the end of Y13 which make up 80% of the final grade.

The Historical Enquiry makes up 20% of the final grade.

Exam Board: Edexcel

A*-B: 73% |  A*-E 100%

Entry requirements

Sixth Form entry criteria plus:

GCSE grade 4 or above in History if taken.

GCSE Grade 5 or above in English Language

Career Opportunities

History is regarded as a facilitating subject and is welcomed by universities for almost any degree course.

Many politicians have History degrees.

The LRC is the most useful space and without it I wouldn't get half as much work done as I do.
