Farmor’s School was founded in 1738. The original school building still stands in Fairford
Farmor's became an Academy in 2011. This means that we are an independently run state school.
We have a portfolio of speakers and mentors who work with our students and support them as they take the step from school into the big wide world.
Striking and beautiful artwork adorns the walls around the school.
Year 9 students visit the WWI battlefields each year as part of their history studies.
Year 10 history students visit places such as the Reichstag, the Berlin TV tower, Checkpoint Charlie and the DDR museum which help them to deepen their understanding of 20th century history.

Our mountain expedition club, Far Moors, has completed the Welsh, Yorkshire and Lake District Three Peaks Challenges
Our students learn how to cook and about the importance of nutrition.
Last year we were winners at the Rotary Stem tournament at Cirencester College in both the KS3 and KS4 categories
We have large numbers of students involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold Level.
We have recently been awarded an Eco-Schools Green Flag for our work in school to protect our environment
We have close links with our neighbours, the Ernest Cook Trust, an educational charity. Some students spend time learning craft skills from their expert staff
St Mary's Church in Fairford was built in 1497 and has a unique set of medieval stained glass windows. It is the focus of our annual World On Your Doorstep project for Year 7.
We are lucky at Farmor's to have two huge fields. We use them for PE lessons and for lunch and break during the summer months.
We have our very own poly-tunnel. Students grow, market and cook the produce.
Three Heads of School are elected from the Sixth Form. They work closely with the Headteacher and represent the school at important events.
We run a homework support session every lunchtime .
Our House System creates a sense of belonging and healthy competition. Year 11 prefects help to lead our house system.
We are an inclusive school and our teachers ensure that every student is thinking hard.
At Farmors, we strive to appreciate and celebrate the rich diversity of languages. For European Day of Languages, we celebrate the rich tapestry of languages which make our continent so special.
This subject is unique to Farmor's. We teach students about the rich history of the English language, from Old English to the modern day. Students learn how and why language evolves and about the diverse range of influences on how we speak.
Our well stocked library is at the heart of our school. We are open before school, at break and at lunchtime. Students come to browse, read, and take part in a wide variety of book related activities including Book Club, Star Wars Day, Harry Potter Day, World Ocean Day and Shakespeare's birthday. We run a yearly Readathon.
Farmor’s is located in the stunning South Cotswolds. The market town of Fairford and its surroundings provide excellent opportunities for fieldwork and historical research.
Every student in years 7, 8 and 9 has the option to book a locker to save them from carrying around heavy books
We enter the UK Maths Team Challenge every year and many of our students achieve the highest awards.
We have a range of popular music and drama clubs. We go on theatre visits, go to concerts, take part in Voice of a Million and put on our own concerts twice a year.
Students are allowed to wear their PE kit to school on days in which they have PE lesson, sports club or fixture.
Farmor's School is delighted to be working closely with Fairford Youth Football Club, Fairford Rugby Club and members of the local community to fundraise for a full-size 3G pitch on the school site. This pitch will be for multi-sport use for the school and our local teams as well as private lettings. We are incredibly grateful for all the community support and enthusiasm for this project; so many local businesses and professionals have offered their time and expertise to get us within touching distance of this fantastic facility.
Photography is a very popular GCSE and A level subject. One of our year 8 students won the Rotary KS3 Photographer of the Year competition with this photograph.

Students have space to relax and spend time with their friends.
Sport plays a huge part in school life for many students who take advantage of the extensive range of extra-curricular sports clubs on offer at lunchtimes.
Every year students compete for the House Cup in a range of Athletics Events as well as aiming to break individual and team School Records.
Every September we take Y9 To Cardiff for Rugby & Netball and every 2 years we do a long haul tour and have been to South Africa and Sri Lanka.
STEM at Farmor’s encompasses a vast range of activities, clubs, competitions, guest speakers and exciting trips. Becoming CyberFirst accredited has opened doors for our students and their future careers with access to bursaries, special events and the all-important industry contacts.
We have two dedicated study spaces: the Library and the Sixth Form Learning Resources Centre.
Many of our students are selected to represent the school in our sports teams who compete well in local, regional and national competitions. We affectionately call ourselves @teamfarmors
Our school uniform was introduced in 2015. Older students wear the school blazer and there are special ‘gold ties’ for prefects
Each year our year 7 students enjoy a residential trip.
