Course Content

You will study two novels linked by a theme, one Shakespeare play and one modern play, a selection of modern poetry and poetry from a specific period. A 3000-word coursework essay makes up 20% of the final grade. This is a comparative essay and you can choose any two texts of your choice. You will work independently on this with tutorial support from staff.

Exams: three exams at the end of Y13 making up 80% of the final grade.

Exam Board: Edexcel

Sixth Form entry criteria plus a minimum GCSE grade 5 in English Literature and Language

One of the strongest departments and even the most difficult essays are broken down and explained. They have allowed my confidence in essay writing to grow and both teachers are always approachable and no task is ever too much for them.
