Far Moors

Sixth form students have the opportunity to take part in mountaineering expeditions.

In 2016 twenty four Year 12 students took part in two 3 Peaks Challenges:

In March they completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (Pen y Ghent, Ingleborough & Whernside) in under 12 hours, with a best time of 11 hours 15 minutes.  They followed this in July by completing the National 3 Peaks (Snowdon, Scafell Pike & Ben Nevis) in under 24 hours, with a best time of 23 hours 20 minutes.

In 2017 twenty six Year 12 students took part in two 3 Peaks Challenges:

In March they completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (Pen y Ghent, Ingleborough & Whernside) in under 12 hours, this year with a best time of 10 hours 45 minutes (all of Mr Johnson's group!). They followed this in July by completing the Welsh 3 Peaks (Snowdon, Cadair Idris & Pen y Fan) in 12 hours.

In 2018 nineteen Year 12 students took part in the English 3 Peaks Challenge:

This involved summiting the Scafell Pike, Helvellyn and Skiddaw in one weekend!

In 2019, thirty students signed up- a bumper year! Unfortunately due to the COVID 19 outbreak, they only completed their training walk across the Malvern Ridge.

"We have found the 3 peaks so far a huge challenge, but a great experience. We are proud of our achievements this year and are looking forward to the Welsh 3 peaks. It is great to work together as teams and encourage each other to keep on going."
