Course Content

This course gives you the opportunity to gain the right combination of knowledge, understanding and skills required for the care sector in the 21st century.

You will study a range of units, covering building positive relationships; equality, diversity and rights; health, safety and security; anatomy and physiology; nutrition for health; and sexual health, reproduction and early development stages.

Exams: A combination of external exams and internally assessed units take place at the end of Year 12 and Year 13.

Graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction, and recognised by UCAS as equivalent to an A level.

Career Opportunities

The health and social care sector employ vast numbers of people across the country, within a varied range of job roles. It’s the biggest employment sector in the UK and includes elements of the NHS, local authority adult and child-care services, and a range of independent providers that provide care in a range of settings. Further study at university is possible, including:

  • Nursing
  • Midwifery
