Y10 Silver Practice Expedition
Wednesday 30 Apr 2025
Over the first weekend of the Easter holidays, 35 members of Y10 completed their Silver Practice expedition, which took place around Broadway and Winchcombe. They covered roughly 55 kilometers over 3 days which is no mean feat, and demonstrated their skills in navigation and camp craft. The weather was exactly right for this kind of activity, not too hot but sunny for the entire time.
Everyone was absolutely exhausted by the end and we saw some nice blisters but all left with enormous smiles; the assessors were (as always) incredibly complimentary about our students, also. There wasn't a single incidence of poor behaviour.
Thanks again to the 2 pupils who changed groups at the last minute to accommodate one instance of illness; they have been awarded an "outstanding contribution" award as a result.
The qualifying expedition is in June, so all I want to see is an exact repeat of the enormous efforts I saw and everyone will be able to tick off that part of their award.
Well done to you all!!
Mr Jackson
Duke of Edinburgh Manager
