Jane Austen's 250th Anniversary!
Thursday 04 Dec 2025
This September saw the historic city of Bath celebrating their annual Jane Austen Festival. Here at Farmor's, our school library celebrated 250 years of Jane Austen with a regency style birthday party! Over 50 students signed up to attend and tested out their skills with our 'Austen-tatious regency retort generator', listened to readings and of course sang happy birthday and shared cake!
Our fantastic Head of English, Mrs Simmonds, walked us through Austen's infamous no-mances, including some of her fantastically feminist proposal rejections. Mr Broussine, our brilliant RS teacher joined us as Mr Darcy, and remained in character throughout the event, much to the delight of students. Even Lola our school's therapy dog managed to don a bonnet, albeit very briefly.
Thank you to our amazing student volunteers and staff members who took part and brought Austen's work to life!
