Continue to read for pleasure – including non-fiction. You could consider exploring a variety of non-fiction text types, such as:- 

  • Newspapers and magazines – there is lots of online content available as well as print publications. 

  • Travel writing eg Bill Bryson, Michael Palin or Simon Reeve. 

  • Biography or autobiography. Read about someone you admire? 

  • Special interests like history, or space, or motorbikes, or gaming – there are books on everything.  

 

To supplement the work on speeches you could read and explore some famous speeches from history – eg Martin Luther King’s ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, or Churchill’s ‘Finest Hour’ and other WW2 speeches etc
